USS Raleigh CL-7 was an Omaha class cruiser launched in 1922 and commissioned in 1924. Tied up on the west side of Ford Island on December 7th, 1941, she was the first ship torpedoed during the attack on Pearl harbor and nearly sunk. Dedicated action by her crew saved her, however, and she was repaired and served the rest of the war, seeing service in the aleutians before heading for the east coast to serve as a training ship.
