USS LEXINGTON CV-16 was the second aircraft carrier in US service with this name, and served the Navy from 1943 to 1991, longer than any other. During the two-and-a-half years she served in World War Two, she earned eleven battle stars and participated in the island-hopping campaign the brought Imperial Japan to her knees.
