U.S.S. DETROIT, Flagship
1. In reference (b) Commander Destroyers, Battle Force requested authority to issue forms to the fleet for recording observations made of the U.S.S. BUCK (DD420). This authority was granted in reference (c). Subsequent to that correspondence, reference (a) has been received which directs Destroyers, Battle Force to conduct other paint tests. These latter tests include a vessel painted dark grey (Formula 5-D) which is the color now on the U.S.S. BUCK. In otder to prevent confusion and duplication, the separate test on the U.S.S. BUCK is hereby discontinued. 2. In accordance with the directive contained in reference (a), the following destroyers are designated for the proposed tests: Experiment (A):

3. The U.S.S. BUCK is already painted as prescribed, and the U.S.S. ROE will be painted at first practical date. The remaining vessels will be painted upon receipt of paint. 4. Commander Destroyer Division SEVENTEEN is hereby designated as the officer in Destroyers, Battle Force to conduct the tests of reference (a), summarize the results, and forward the report.
