S I R :

     The following information is furnished in response to your card dated July 1, 1941:

     (a) Navy Standard light gray paint, formula #18, is used on canvas.

     (b) This paint cannot be purchased from the Government.

     (c) A coat of varnish is not required over the paint to increase wear resistance of the coating.

     (d) The paint finish is not glossy.

     (e) Information regarding cost of paint is not available for distribution.
