Reference:
 (a) BUSHIPS Conf. ltr. C-S19-l-(1)(341), C-EN28/A2-11, dated August 29, 1941.

     1.    Paragraph 2 of reference (a) requested the addressees at as early a date as practicable and when dark bluish gray paint is available from the paint manufacturing yards to paint all exposed wood decks on battleships and cruisers with the material.

     2.    In the event of this material not being available to all forces afloat, the addressees are advised that Formula 5-U which has been furnished the forces afloat for low visibility surfaces may be used in lieu thereof in combination with tinting material 5-TM in the proportion of 5 gallons of 5-U and 20 pints of Formula 5-TM. (This would be darker than 5-N Navy Blue as the portions called out here, for example, are 15 pints per 5-gallon container)
