30 July 1945 lst Endorsement on
1. The Commander Service Force, Pacific Fleet, (Fleet Maintenance Office), does not recommend that Battleship Squadron ONE vessels be allowed to carry paint and painting equipment for preservation purposes because of the fire hazards involved. 2. Paint is carried in stock at all fleet anchorages by the Commander Service Squadron TEN, and as far as is known, this stock has been maintained at levels sufficient to supply preservation needs of all ships upon request. Paint is also carried, in limited amounts aboard AKS vessels operating in the forward area.
