ATLANTIC FLEET LETTER 4L-41

From : Commander-in-Chief, United States Atlantic Fleet.
To   : ATLANTIC FLEET.
 
Reference: (a) CNO letter Op-23B-RLF/DD/S28-4 (410514) Serial 234923 of July 25, 1941.
(b) Ship Camouflage Instructions, Ships-2, Revised September 1941.

     1.       The Chief of Naval Operations in reference (a) directed that "ship's designating numbers (for destroyers) should be two feet high, painted white, and located in the center of the area now designated for the large bow numbers.

     2.       Surface ships of this Fleets are directed - page 7 of reference (b) - to paint their designating numbers in white, two feet high in the general location designated above for destroyers.
