SUBJECT:   Procurement of Camouflage Paints for Ships Under Construction or Conversion in Private Shipyards.

     1.          The directives in reference (a) are hereby cancelled concerning the limitation on procurement of camouflage paints for ships under construction or conversion in private shipyards, to materials manufactured by the Navy Yards. Specifications which are to be used as a basis for procurement of paints from commercial sources have been prepared and copies are available from the Bureau. References (b) to (h) inclusive, are the applicable specifications. Color chips for the control of shades are available from the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

     2.          The application of paints manufactured commercially, in accordance with these specifications, is authorized therefore, on ships under construction or conversion in private shipyards.
